About Grit Of Sandpaper
Coarse grit (80–240): Fast material removal, rough shaping, leaves deep scratches.
Medium grit (320–600): Removes coarse scratches, smooths surface, prepares for fine sanding.
Fine grit (800+): For final polishing, mirror-like finish, reduced roughness, improved gloss.
Select Sandpaper Type
Dry sandpaper is used without water, suitable for wood and general metal grinding. It is convenient but produces more dust, so dust collection is recommended.
Water sandpaper is used with water for high-precision finishes, such as automotive coatings and instrument parts. Water provides lubrication and cooling, prevents clogging, and delivers a finer surface.
Consider Sandpaper Quality
Abrasive quality: High hardness and wear resistance keep abrasives sharp and durable. Silicon carbide suits various materials, while alumina offers toughness and cutting strength for metals.
Paper base quality: A strong, flexible base resists tearing and holds abrasives firmly, ensuring stable performance and consistent grinding quality.
